Umberto (Albert) J. Paoletti "Pabo" (June 1919 - March 2007)
Pabo's of Boalsburg Albert Paoletti
The Story of Pabo

Pabo was born in 1919, in the small village of Ascoli Piceno, Italy. He was the son of Achille and Anna (Carpani) Paoletti. The family was very poor and made their home atop the small barn, where their animals were kept. They made their living farming a small plot of land, doing simple carpentry work and painting for their neighbors, churches and public buildings in the surrounding villages. Pabo, was a small boy at the time, but he too worked to provide food for the family. Above all, Pabo enjoyed painting the most.
The family soon left their small farm in Italy and made way to the United States. At the age of 9 or 10, Pabo continued to help provide for the family, painting churches and other buildings in the Philadelphia area. He was proud of his nickname, which was handed down to him from generation to generation, father to son. The name Pabo, means “Pope” or “Father” in Italian. He was named this because he always took care of the family, much like a father. When he was 18 years old, Pabo married Jean Valerie Malkowski. Together, they worked independently in various businesses, mostly retail sales. Some of the businesses Pabo and Jean started included interior decorating where they made custom drapes & upholstery, unpainted furniture sales and wicker furniture and basket sales. In the early 1960's, Pabo opened and ran a Sherwin William's paint store which he ran for about 5 years. During that time he also opened a business called Albert's Imports where he sold wicker furniture and baskets. He used paints from the paint store to custom color and spray paint many furniture items for his customers.
While in semi-retirement Pabo began painting again, using the leftover Sherwin William's paints from the past. The artwork you see here at this site, are the works of Pabo...

Pabo was one of five children, an older sister Adalgisa, an older brother Alfred (Father Anastase Paoletti, a Franciscan priest), a younger brother, Domenic and a younger sister, Agatha (Agnes) Law. Pabo's wife Jean Paoletti passed away in 1999. Pabo is survived by his sister Agnes (married Vincent Law and resides in Vineland, NJ), his beloved companion Marie Hopkins (who resides in Cape May, NJ), his daugther Josephine Paoletti and three grandchildren, Christina Valerie Miller, Elizabeth Jean Miller (Tiger) and Brian Joseph Miller (all reside in Boalsburg, PA).
